Day 7 Fit For Service Luke 9:61-62
The call to service is now. Are we ready to answer? Jesus wants us to answer the call for our world so people can be saved. Our mission is to reach out to our lost world with the good news. We agreed to this call when we "signed up" for God's army. We need to surrender our all to answer the call. We can not hesitate in answering the call for we have people dying and going to hell without Christ. The call is to save lives. I am so glad that someone answered the call to tell me about Christ. Are we fit for service? If we are in the word and prayer the answer is yes. Let's get ready for the battle

Being a disciple of Christ means serving Him 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. There is nothing more important than my relationship with Jesus -- it does receive number one priority.
ReplyDeleteThere are weekends that I am obligated to work; but even as I work, I am serving Jesus. There are seasons of life that will require different commitments from you. As the mother of 4 children, it is my God-given duty to raise them to the best of my ability and beyond my ability, to leave the rest to God; as ultimately they belong to Him. There have been a multitude of sacrifices that I have made over the years in order to be available to my children - working weekends has been one of the sacrifices. Yes, this does mean that I miss the gather of the saints, in the designated church building, on the weekends that I am called to duty. This does not mean that I remove God from my thoughts or my duties as I work.
I have always felt the hand of God directing my life to minister to others. Initially, I thought that this meant that I would be bound to a designated church building to minister to others. I now realize that ministry happens wherever you take God -- on the streets, in your neighborhood, to your job, to the grocery store, in the parking lot.... ministry comes in many forms.
Sometimes "church folk" get confused about what our calling/commision is. We are called to share the good news with everyone. We are not called to form a bubble inside a designated church building -- sharing fellowship with one another. We are called to go into the highways and byways. It is an external mission. A willingness to sell out for Christ and for His purpose is what he requires of us! I am not satisfied to exclusively build relationships with believers; the sick is in need of the doctor! The lost is need of the Savior!
We need to learn how to incorporate Christ into every thought and every breath that comes from our being. We need to learn how to be an extension of the Mighty God. Not by blasting and condemning those that we come into contact with. But by caring, loving, and ministering to their needs - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually!
A definite step is required of anyone who hears a challenge. Greatness comes not in getting excited by a challenge -- but by rising to the challenge... meeting it... acting on it! Again, it is not our worthiness -- it is our willlingness!! He can use a donkey to speak if we refuse, He can summons the rock to cry out if we will not. He is the God of all creation, and He has chosen you and I to share His good news. Are you willing to leave your nets? I walked away from my nets over 25 years ago, let's walk together!! NJ
I can honestly say that when I look back to my life before accepting Christ there is nothing - abosolutely nothing that I want to "look back at". There are things that I have had to deal with from my past and am still dealing with, however, my life since I accepted Christ is the life I want to live. God is my Healer, My Counselor, my Strong Tower - He is the Way, the Truth and the Life - may God continue to prepare me and get me ready for whatever He needs me to do - may He keep me focused - may I remain faithful until the end.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Cheryl.... it would be so nice to cast my own failures and sin into the sea of forgetfulness... but then I would likely lose my appreciation for the working of the cross!
ReplyDeleteIn order to be fit for service - the word preparation stood out to me as the most important step. Preparation is 90% of being ready for the presentation and the complete responsibility of being prepard is ours. I pray we all stay in the Word and committed to serve for God's honor and glory.
